Forecasting or guessing which national team is going to win 2010 World Cup in South Africa is not easy at all. Football journalists, veteran football players and the like, all agree that luck will be one of the decisive factors, not just skill and fitness. Big football powers have faced early exits several times and it’s not uncommon unexpected things to occur, especially when the big teams underestimate some newcomers.
A good example of that is Cameroon in the 1990 Word Cup in Italy that managed to beat Argentina and proceed until the quarter finals. How many football fans could really see Italy winning the cup instead of Brazil, or Germany reaching another final?? In every competition bookmakers and journalists try to persuade the crowds about the favourites which definitely has an impact on the outcome of the whole competition. Brazil and Argentina are the no1 favourites given their skill, history and the fact that the competition will take place outside Europe. Italy – as the current trophy holders and Germany follow, because of the amount of times they have managed to reach the final. Germany is a team to admire because one way or another they will manage to reach the semi-finals or even the final, without having nay of the world’s best players in their team.
Many agree that it’s going to be a balanced competition during a very warm summer, as they experts have already proclaimed.. Once again, friends and families will get together, preferably outdoors, to enjoy that great summer social event that takes place once every four years. So, all you need is a garden, someone to look after the bbq, a telly, a pair of wireless speakers and your favourite people to be around. It would be fun even for the kids as they love being outdoors, running, jumping and playing with their rc helicopter or just watch the game.
It has been such a long anticipation since the previous world cup that it’s very understandable why so many millions of people are looking forward to the 2010 games. So let’s get ready then!
